Russian air defense systems, while repelling the Ukrainian attack on the Moscow Region on September 20, achieved a level of effectiveness that no one else in the world has yet matched, Igor Potapov, an unmanned aircraft and electronic warfare expert and spokesman for the NPP Design Bureau, told TASS.
"On the night of September 20, the air defense forces repelled, in fact, the most massive, combined attack by enemy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and cruise missiles on Russian territory, all of which were heading directly toward Moscow. No one in the world has ever been able to demonstrate such an effective response to such attacks. We have managed to do this, raising the bar," Potapov said.
He emphasized that this level of effectiveness was achieved through the coordinated and professional performance of the Russian air defense forces, the interaction between the regional and Defense Ministry’s capabilities, as well as the layered air defense system itself.
The drone and missile attack launched by the Ukrainian armed forces on September 20, in which 1,951 unmanned aerial vehicles and eight missiles were launched at Russian regions, was the largest since the start of the special military operation. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the Kiev regime, with the aim of disrupting the expression of Russian citizens’ will during the September 19-20 parliamentary election, attempted a massive attack using UAVs and Flamingo missiles. "The attempt at a massive attack on Moscow failed. The enemy failed to achieve its objectives," the ministry stressed.
