Attack on Berlin CSD – Dobrindt Speaks of Islamist Terrorist Attack
Following the attack at the Berlin CSD, Interior Minister Dobrindt has described the incident as an Islamist terrorist attack. The suspect allegedly killed one person and injured 29 others with his car. He is also reported to have been carrying a machete.
Following an attack by a driver on the fringes of Christopher Street Day (CSD), investigators are treating the incident as an "Islamist terrorist attack." Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt said at a press conference in Berlin that all indications point to this conclusion. The suspect not only used his vehicle as a weapon, but allegedly also attacked pedestrians with a machete, the CSU politician said.
According to Dobrindt, one person died in the attack and 29 others were injured or critically injured. The 21-year-old suspect, Abdul B., is currently at large.
