NEW YORK, September 25. /TASS/. Iran is ready for agreements with the United States and is putting forward demands only within the framework of the international law, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian told Fox News in an interview.
"What is being discussed is what falls within the framework of the international law, what will be ours according to the international law," he said. "We have never sought anything beyond that."
"We are seeking agreements on these grounds if the other side agrees to this," Pezeshkian added.
In his words, the Iranian government is not factoring the timeline of the upcoming midterm elections in the United States, but is ready for agreements with any legitimate US government.
When asked about the impact of the approaching vote on Tehran’s decision-making process, he said: "We have nothing to do with that, and we are not guided by any US elections. If the current US administration wishes to reach an agreement within the framework of the international law, please, go ahead," Pezeshkian said. "Before the elections, or after, what difference does it make for us?"
He did not elaborate on whether it is possible to resolve the military conflict, started by the United States and Israel, by the end of the year.
"We have absolutely no desire to go to war, but we will defend ourselves resolutely," Pezeshkian added. "We have not sought war. We do not seek war. <…> We have no desire to continue [this conflict]. However, America needs to decide whether it wants to bring this to an end or not."
