Oil consumption in August recovers the decline seen in July, boosted by one additional working day and once again supported by the strong performance of transport fuels. This was reported by Unem, highlighting in particular the growth in petrol (+3%, +24,000 tonnes), at a 15-year high for the month of August.
Once again, the jet fuel figure stands out, showing the fourth consecutive increase (+5.8%, +30,000 tonnes), and above all equalling, against historical trends, the absolute record set in July: never before in Italy have such high volumes of jet fuel been put into consumption in a single month.
The greatest progress among fuels belongs to automotive LPG (+4.9%, +6,000 tonnes), whose international prices have been less affected by the crisis.
In August, consumer fuel prices averaged 2 euros per litre for petrol and 2.10 euros per litre for diesel, up by 9.2 and 7.3 cents respectively compared to July.
