MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/. The Kalashnikov Group has delivered a batch of Dragunov sniper rifles (SVD) under a contract with the Russian security forces, the company’s press service told TASS.

"The Kalashnikov Group has delivered a batch of 7.62-mm SVD rifles to a customer from the Russian security forces. The products were delivered on schedule, and the obligations under the 2026 contract have been fulfilled," the statement said.

The company noted that the SVD is designed to engage enemy personnel and unarmored targets at ranges of up to 800 meters and can fire all types of 7.62x54R rounds. It specified that sniper ammunition is recommended for greater accuracy.

Serial production of the SVD rifle began in 1963. Kalashnikov noted that the rifle’s greatest strengths are its semi-automatic operation, compact design, light weight, as well as its high accuracy and precision.
