A 22-year-old man was arrested this Friday (18) on suspicion of killing his girlfriend and cousin, aged 21, in Conselheiro Lafaiete, in the central region of Minas Gerais.

According to the Civil Police, Ruan Sicupira had been in hiding since the night of September 11, when Ana Isa Sicupira was found dead inside her home. According to the investigation, the young woman was attacked with blows from a helmet.

Forensic experts attended the scene to collect evidence and analyze possible instruments used in the crime. The Civil Police state that the investigation identified a history of domestic violence involving the victim and the suspect.

The police did not report whether the man had legal representation. The news report was unable to identify Ruan Sicupira's defense counsel.

Police say Ana Isa had not gone to work that day and had stopped maintaining contact with people close to her. The Military Police were called and located the young woman's address in the Sion neighborhood. According to the incident report, the gate and the front door of the residence were open.

Ana Isa was found lying beside the bed, already dead, with multiple injuries to the facial area. The wounds were caused by blows from a helmet. There was blood spread across the floor, the walls and other parts of the property.

Also according to police, after the crime, Ruan allegedly left the residence taking his girlfriend's mobile phone. The force states that he remained in hiding until he was located at a house in the Manoel de Paula neighborhood, where he was placed under preventive arrest.

During the search operations, officers seized clothing that, according to the investigation, was worn by the suspect on the day of the crime. The items were partially burned.

Remnants believed by police to be from mobile phones belonging to Ruan and the victim were also found.

The Civil Police opened an inquiry to investigate the case. Ruan is being investigated for the murder, and the circumstances and motive of the crime are still being determined.
