The Masi Foundation, with its president Isabella Bossi Fedrigotti, expresses the condolences of the entire Board and stands close to the family following the passing of artist Fabrizio Plessi, who last October was awarded the 44th Premio Masi Civiltà Veneta, in Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella (Verona).
"It was an honour to have him with us," says Bossi Fedrigotti, "together with writer Federica Manzon and entrepreneur Alberto Bombassei, three standard-bearers of the Veneto region and its culture. In Plessi's case, his presence was underscored and enriched by the monumental site-specific video installation 'L'Anima dell'Amarone' at the Masi Monteleone21 venue, where the award ceremony took place. We will miss him as a friend, and we will miss his expression of artistic innovation in Venice, a theme we had intended to address in a planned debate in the maestro's presence."
For Sandro Boscaini, vice-president of the Foundation and president of Masi Agricola, "my bond with Fabrizio is one of affection and long standing, and in 2025 it led us to tackle the theme of Amarone. As a great artist and connoisseur, he captured the deep meaning and uniqueness of this nectar of the Valpolicella, translating it into a monumental work that will remain as a testament to our shared love for the territory and the Venetian people of whom it is a symbol. Just two months ago we were both participants in a debate at the Procuratie buildings in Piazza San Marco. Unexpectedly, the maestro wished to preview his idea of Amarone translated into a bottle, and Masi will now present it in its prestigious Costasera Contemporary Art collection."
