DONETSK, September 18. /TASS/. The Kiev regime attempted to disrupt voting on the eve of and on the day of the start of the first State Duma elections in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) by launching attacks on the region, Igor Kimakovsky, an advisor to the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) head, said on Russian state television.
"They [Ukrainian military] are trying to disrupt these elections both tonight and the previous night," Kimakovsky said.
According to him, Mariupol was among the areas targeted in the attacks, with the city experiencing a power outage for several hours.
He also stressed that Kiev’s attempts to interfere with the voting through information and psychological operations will not work. "The perpetrators [of these kinds of operations] won't stop us. Why? Because we're doing everything by the book," Kimakovsky said.
Early voting took place in the region from August 30 to September 17. Military personnel were the first to cast their ballots, with civilians joining them from September 8 on. According to preliminary data as of September 17, at least 1 million people had voted, accounting for around 75% of voters.
