Mumbai: The city’s suburban railway network witnessed two disruptions on Thursday, inconveniencing commuters on Central Railway’s main and Harbour lines. An emergency chain-pulling incident involving a special train near Kalyan affected morning services, while a technical glitch between Tilak Nagar and Chembur disrupted Harbour line services for seven minutes.
At 9.30 am, an unidentified person pulled the emergency chain in the S-9 sleeper coach of special train 09323 Khadki-Indore Express near Kalyan station. Railway staff reached the coach and restored the chain, allowing the train to resume its journey within five minutes, Central Railway officials claimed. No one was detained in connection with the incident.
In the second incident, a technical fault on a Panvel-bound local between Tilak Nagar and Chembur caused its pantograph to come down from the overhead wire. The disruption occurred between 10.25 am and 10.32 am and affected three local trains on the Harbour line.
