MUMBAI: The BMC has rejected the owners’ reply and deemed ongoing construction at actor Ajay Devgn’s Juhu bungalow unauthorised after they failed to submit documents establishing that the work had civic approval.

The bungalow, located at Kapol Cooperative Housing Society in Juhu, is owned by Devgn and his mother, Veena Devgn.

In a speaking order dated October 6, the BMC’s K/West ward office said the reply submitted on September 15 did not include documents establishing that the construction was authorised or a copy of permission granted by the competent authority.

On September 10, the civic body had issued a stop-work notice under Section 354A of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, alleging unauthorised additions and alterations using Siporex blocks at CTS No. 841, Plot No. 10, Kapol CHS Ltd, on N S Road No. 11, JVPD, Vile Parle (West).

The notice directed the owner or occupier to stop work immediately and submit the relevant permissions within 24 hours. It warned that the unauthorised structure and construction materials could be removed at the owner’s risk and cost if the directions were not followed. Police were also asked to monitor the site and remove those carrying out the work, if necessary.

In its October 6 order, the BMC said permission from the competent authority was required for the ongoing construction. Since no supporting documents had been submitted, the owners’ reply could not be accepted and the work was deemed unauthorised.

The order does not specify whether the civic body has since taken steps to remove the construction.
