The urban sounds of Nicosia, blending electronics, improvisation and Mediterranean memories, become music in the new project by Cypriot group Nabu Pera, scheduled for Tuesday, August 25, at 9 p.m. at the Museum of Music in Bologna, as part of the 15th edition of (s)Nodi, Festival of Unusual Music.
On stage are Savvas Thoma (bendir and voice), Natasa Hadjiandreou (vibraphone and percussion) and Demetris Yiasemides (flute, sylphyo and electronics), the protagonists of 'Soundscapes of Nicosia', a project that transforms the Cypriot capital, a historic crossroads of cultures and influences, into a true musical instrument. The concert offers an immersive and constantly evolving soundscape, where footsteps, urban echoes and everyday noises intertwine with Mediterranean roots and electronic suggestions.
The aim is to bring out the "hidden sound" of the city through a musical narrative that invites listeners to tune in and rediscover the places they inhabit. The (s)Nodi festival, now in its fifteenth edition, explores the intersections between different trajectories of contemporary popular and folk music.
The events scheduled at the Museum of Music, every Tuesday evening until September 8, are dedicated to original sonic experiences and the blending of different musical languages, beyond traditional geographical and genre boundaries.
