The Political School 'Vivere nella Comunità' announced in a press release the appointment of Pierroberto Folgiero, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Fincantieri, a global leader in high-complexity shipbuilding, to its board.
"The membership," the statement reads, "strengthens the School's journey, which was founded to promote a culture of public responsibility and contribute to the formation of a new leadership class through dialogue between institutions, business, universities, culture and civil society."
"In an international context characterised by profound geopolitical changes, industrial and technological competition and the growing centrality of strategic infrastructure," the statement continues, "the experience gained by Folgiero represents a contribution of particular value. His presence on the board will allow for a deeper exploration of issues that are central to the country today: industrial policy, innovation, defence, economic security, sustainability, European strategic autonomy and international competitiveness in defence."

With this appointment, the Political School 'Vivere nella Comunità' continues its efforts to build a board composed of individuals from different fields, including Stefano Lucchini, Stefano Antonio Donnarumma, Dario Scannapieco, Magda Bianco, Marta Cartabia, Paolo Boccardelli, Massimo Lapucci, Bernardo Giorgio Mattarella, Sabino Cassese, Luca Dal Fabbro and Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo.
The Political School — which is supported by some of Italy's most important companies, including Intesa Sanpaolo, Fincantieri, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, Ania, Gruppo Ferrovie dello Stato, A2A, Iren, ANSA and Fondazione Ericsson — counts among the objectives of its free educational programme the strengthening of young people's active participation in institutional life, access to high-quality education, and non-partisan, multidisciplinary training. In addition to preparing young participants for careers in both the public and private sectors, the objective is to identify, through a series of seminars, reflections and position papers of use to the worlds of public administration, culture, finance, infrastructure and economics.
Founded in 2019, the Political School 'Vivere nella Comunità' has become a centre of excellence in Italy for developing future leaders and a new generation of civil servants, giving rise in recent years to numerous initiatives and Schools inspired by this non-partisan and interdisciplinary model of education. Now in its sixth edition, it has provided free training to more than 300 students and has counted among its faculty the invaluable contributions of Carlo Messina, Giuliano Amato, Sabino Cassese, Stefano Antonio Donnarumma, Andrea Sironi, Fabrizio Palermo, Giampiero Massolo, Jack Markell (former United States Ambassador to Italy), and former Ministers of Education Francesco Profumo and della
Justice Marta Cartabia.
The next event is scheduled for November for the presentation of Alumni research, while the seventh edition will begin in February 2027. The latest edition of the Political School was inaugurated by a lectio magistralis by Stefano Antonio Donnarumma, in which - the statement concludes - Stefano Lucchini (Intesa Sanpaolo), Fabio Barchiesi (Cdp Equity), Eugenio de Blasio (Green Arrow Capital) and General of the Guardia di Finanza Virgilio Pomponi also took part.
