WASHINGTON, October 21. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump said he had not yet discussed with US Vice President JD Vance the prospect of running for president in 2028.

"I tell you this: he’s a very talented person and he’s a very good person. But we’ve literally, I don’t think we’ve ever talked about it," Trump emphasized in response to reporters’ questions at the White House. "No, sir," Vance, who was present during the US leader’s exchange with reporters, confirmed.

Trump was asked whether he was prepared to publicly endorse Vance as his successor if Vance decided to run in the 2028 presidential election.

"It’s early [to discuss these issues]," Trump noted. He said that the US Republican Party first needed to assess the results of the midterm elections scheduled for next month.

The US midterm elections will take place on November 3. One-third of the Senate and the entire House of Representatives, as well as the governors of 36 states and territories, will be up for election. Republicans currently control both chambers of Congress.
