"Talking about the mafia today does not only mean talking about the southern regions, where the mafia was born. Veneto too is heavily involved in this terrible issue." These were the words spoken this morning by the President of Veneto, Alberto Stefani, who, together with the District Anti-Mafia Prosecutor of Venice, Alessandra Dolci, met with students at the Brocchi high school in Bassano del Grappa, in memory of Rosario Livatino.
"It is a topic," Stefani continued, "that we addressed this morning with over 300 students, and I believe that a region like Veneto needs to equip itself with all the necessary tools to face this challenge — a challenge that also concerns Veneto, clearly on a different scale than other regions. We have hundreds of properties that have been confiscated in the first instance from the mafia, which we want to return to social associations, of a social nature, to citizens, perhaps also to many young people, and why not, perhaps share with these young people some of the intended uses," he concluded.
