While the program officially ends Thursday night, the Gran Hermano competition (at 10:40 p.m., on Telefe) was decided this Wednesday, with Solange "Sol" Abraham as the winner of this self-proclaimed Golden Generation. The woman from Tucumán prevailed in the head-to-head against the Uruguayan Yipio, with 51.8 percent of the public's votes. And the show, reaching that moment after 206 days, managed to improve its ratings somewhat. It was, once again, the most-watched program of the day, this time with an average of 12.5 points for its first part.
It fell far short of other finales of the format, but at least it was able to lead Wednesday's free-to-air TV rankings, followed by its second part with 9.2 points. Telefe usually splits the measurements of some of its programs so as not to dilute the averages too much.
In that second segment, the winner was revealed and both contestants were shown entering the studio where host Santiago del Moro, the panelists, their families and fans awaited them. And this Thursday there will be a "closing celebration" with award presentations and toasts.
Wednesday's podium was rounded out with a tie between the show Historias del corazón, in which actress Virginia Lago introduces episodes of Avenida Brasil, and Popstars, with 8.5 points each.
The Top Five of this September 16th closed with another tie, this time at 8.3, between DirecTV Go: espiando la casa and Telefe noticias. Thus, the entire rankings were dominated by Telefe programs.
El Trece was unable to break into the general rankings, as the most-watched program on that channel was Es mi sueño 2, hosted by Guido Kaczka, which in its second season also features celebrities (who form duos with contestants registered during auditions). This Wednesday it averaged 6.8 points and felt some impact from the GH finale.
The most-watched programs on other channels
On América, LAM won with an average of 3.5 points. On Elnueve, Bendita led with 3.1 points. On Net, Cine Net came out on top with 0.7 points, on Bravo, Bravo TV led with 0.1. And on TV Pública, Mediodía bien arriba II topped the chart with 0.4.
Telefe was the most-watched channel on Monday, with an overall average of 8 points. El Trece came in second with 5. In the battle for third place, América beat Elnueve with 2.4 against 2. Then came a tie at 0.2 between TV Pública and Net, and Bravo closed with 0.
This Thursday will be the last broadcast of Gran Hermano. Its time slot will be taken over, starting Monday the 28th, by MasterChef Celebrity, which this Wednesday, ahead of the GH finale, aired a sketch-format video featuring host Wanda Nara, the judges and the contestants.
The recording simulated a flight in which each person was associated with a situation from their own public persona, with Wanda serving as a flight attendant calling all the "passengers." The sketch lasted longer than each episode of her vertical series Triángulo amoroso, alongside her ex, Maxi López (which aired a few months ago at 9:30 p.m. on Telefe).
In between a definitive ending and an inauguration, there will be an alternative programming week on Telefe that is still being finalized.
