Throughout the entire 2026 World Cup, Argentina was the target of criticism from all corners of the world.
Despite having reached the final and the tournament having already concluded, our country continues to face questioning that goes beyond the realm of football, with even celebrities joining the anti-Argentina campaign with comments accusing us of being racist, violent and corrupt, among many other insults.
In that context, the latest person to come to Argentina's defense was Maia Reficco, the well-known actress and current girlfriend of Franco Colapinto who, despite being Argentine, usually works in countries such as Spain or the United States.
After attending Argentina's last three matches at the World Cup, and even bringing Lionel Messi the coin for the toss in the match against Switzerland, the actress posted a forceful statement on her social media.
Using her secondary Instagram account (@tomatit0cherry_), Maia began by posting a story of her offended face and writing: "I am five more stories away from deleting Instagram or I'm going to pick a fight with half the planet."
She added, referring to the wave of attacks Argentina received on social media: "The nonsense, falsehoods and disrespect you have to read."
Far from stopping there, Reficco then shared a video in which she laughed at the messages she received from her Argentine fans, who were equally outraged by what had happened: "I love you all, we're all the same."
"They're telling me to keep fighting… I don't have the energy and my fingers can't keep up. No guys, honestly… oh God," she said.
And, in an ironic tone, she wrote: "Maybe I'll try meditating, maybe my psychologist was right and it actually works."
Lali Espósito's ironic reaction to the criticism against Argentina
Just as Maia did, Lali Espósito also decided to use her social media to respond to the criticism.
Through her official TikTok account (@lali_oficial), the singer posted a video in which she can be seen lip-syncing one of the iconic reflections of Moria Casán, whose words resonated as a response to the difficult situation surrounding the Argentine national team and its fans.

"Everyone comes at me and I couldn't care less who they are. You pick a fight with me and I'll fight back. Deal with it, whether you're a nobody or a big shot, whatever you may be," reads the phrase that Espósito chose to recreate and adopted as a banner to support Argentina.
Espósito closed the post with a resounding "Argentina," accompanied by an emoji of the national flag and two white hearts, a gesture through which she demonstrated her pride and commitment to the country in the face of the adverse situation it is experiencing in the public eye.
