A new video shows the moments immediately after the death of Abderrahim Fakir, the 42-year-old who died during a police detention on Sunday in the Pilastro neighbourhood of Bologna.
In the footage, a forensic police officer uncovers the man's body, which is wrapped in a sheet with his ankles still bound. Fakir's body is lying face up with his mouth open.
Beneath his head there is a large pool of blood. Blood is also visible on his face.
"And how did all that blood end up in his lungs? He inhaled it because they beat him. It is not external blood. What does cocaine have to do with it?" This is how Fabio Anselmo, the lawyer representing Abderrahim Fakir's family, commented to ANSA on the new video.
"Serious toxicological investigations take days and days. The test that was carried out is unreliable," he said regarding the initial autopsy results, "and the defence consultants know this too. It is a test done to point things in a certain direction." "Cocaine does not cause all of this," he stressed.
