A new video shows the moments immediately after the death of Abderrahim Fakir, the 42-year-old who died during a police detention on Sunday in the Pilastro neighbourhood of Bologna. The footage shows a forensic police officer discovering the man's body wrapped in a sheet with his ankles still bound. Fakir's body is lying face up with his mouth open. Beneath his head there is a large bloodstain. Blood is also visible on his face.
"And how did all that blood end up in his lungs? He inhaled it because they beat him. It is not external blood. What does cocaine have to do with it?" These are the questions raised by Fabio Anselmo, the lawyer representing the family of Abderrahim Fakir. "Serious toxicological investigations take days and days. The test carried out is unreliable," he says regarding the initial autopsy findings, "and even the defence consultants know this. It is a test done to provide guidance." "Cocaine does not cause all of this," he emphasises.
