MOSCOW, October 27. /TASS/. Iran, which holds the world’s second-largest proven natural gas reserves, is prepared to play a more active role in the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) and to develop investment opportunities within the framework of the organization, President of the Islamic Republic Masoud Pezeshkian said at the GECF summit in Moscow.

"Iran, as a founding member of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum and the holder of the world's second largest proven natural gas reserves, declares its readiness to play a more active role in promoting multilateral diplomacy, sharing knowledge and experience, and developing investment opportunities in gas infrastructure within the Forum," he said.

GECF member countries need to expand cooperation in the areas of strategic management and technical and engineering operations, Pezeshkian noted. From a strategic perspective, emphasis should be placed on market stability and increasing the volume of natural gas trade, he added.
