At the request of the Minister for Civil Protection and Maritime Policy, Nello Musumeci, the government has declared a 12-month state of emergency due to the exceptional meteorological events that occurred between 26 March and 3 April 2026 in the territory of the Province of Ascoli Piceno and the Municipality of Amandola, in the Province of Fermo. To implement the first interventions, an allocation of 4.3 million euros has also been approved, drawn from the National Emergencies Fund.
"The recognition of the state of emergency represents a concrete and long-awaited response for our territory, which was severely hit by the calamitous events of last spring," said the Mayor of Ascoli Piceno, Marco Fioravanti. "This is a fundamental first step that will allow the most urgent interventions to be initiated and will support citizens, businesses and local authorities on the path back to normality. We will continue to work in close cooperation with all institutional levels so that the territory can obtain all the resources necessary for complete reconstruction and securing of the area."
"The allocation approved by the government is the result of constant institutional work carried out together with the Municipalities, the Province and the regional structure," added the Regional Councillor for the Budget, Francesca Pantaloni. "The Marche Region will continue to guarantee maximum support so that the resources are deployed promptly and effectively, responding to the needs of the territories and accelerating the interventions necessary for the restoration of the affected areas."
