They targeted an eleven-year-old boy, allegedly subjecting him to torture, punching and kicking him, and abusing him while two female friends recorded everything on their mobile phones before posting the videos on social media. The incident occurred in the Cagliari area, with five minors under investigation on various charges, in concert with one another, for gang sexual violence, aggravated theft, stalking, unlawful coercion, and illicit distribution of sexually explicit videos.
The investigation was reportedly triggered by the victim's parents, who were alerted by a person who had seen the video and recognised the eleven-year-old. Carabinieri immediately launched checks and within a short time gathered extensive evidence.
This morning, officers from the Cagliari Company carried out five search warrants against the suspects, issued by the Office of the Public Prosecutor at the Juvenile Court of the regional capital.
It is understood that the violence and abuse were repeated over a period of time: according to the Carabinieri, from June through to the current month. Investigators "are carefully monitoring any further illicit distribution of the videos depicting the sexual assault," the force explained, adding that such distribution "constitutes an additional offence in its own right, even when committed by adults, with the primary aim of ensuring the fullest possible protection of the underage victim."
