The wave of bad weather that hit the province of Teramo has brought the local agricultural sector to its knees in the middle of the productive season. According to the first assessment by Coldiretti Teramo, the most devastated areas are Bellante, Notaresco, the Val Tordino and the strip between Pineto and Roseto degli Abruzzi, with losses close to 100% in several plots of land.

The fury of ice and wind spared neither tomato crops, vegetables, maize, vineyards nor olive groves, also causing severe damage to warehouses, photovoltaic systems and agricultural machinery.

"Our technicians are working on the survey," declares the president of Coldiretti Teramo, Emanuela Ripani. "The picture is worrying: we are asking the Abruzzo Region to immediately activate procedures for a natural disaster declaration in support of businesses." The provincial director, Daniele Di Venanzio, echoes this position, emphasising the need to strengthen prevention tools in the face of extreme weather events that are now increasingly frequent.
