Billy Cobham, a legendary drummer, is the star of the concert that Casa del Jazz in Rome is presenting on July 21 as part of its summer season programme. The American musician of Panamanian origin, 82 years old, will perform tracks from his album "Time of my life", released last April and at the centre of the Time Machine project he is currently taking on tour. Joining him on stage at Villa Osio will be Victor Cisternas (bass), Rocco Zifarelli (guitar), Gary Husband (keyboards), Bjorn Arko (saxophone), Antinio Baldino (trumpet), and Andrea Andreoli (trombone).
Cobham first made his mark on the jazz scene in the early Seventies with the Mahavishnu Orchestra, founded with guitarist John McLaughlin, but he had already played drums for major names such as Horace Silver and George Benson, and had also participated in the recording of the legendary Miles Davis album "Bitches Brew". In 1973, "Spectrum" was released, his legendary debut solo album, the first in a long and prolific career. He has collaborated with dozens of artists, including Peter Gabriel and the Grateful Dead.
