Three police officers from the mobile squad of the Catania Police Headquarters were attacked with blows from helmets, iron bars and chairs during an anti-drug operation carried out yesterday in a drug dealing square in the historic San Cristoforo neighbourhood. One of the officers suffered a fractured nasal septum and facial trauma, while the other two sustained bruising and various injuries, with a prognosis of 15 days each. Several other police patrols intervened on the scene to assist their colleagues and stop the attack. During this latter intervention, three people were arrested and subsequently taken to prison.
