Following the controversy sparked by the insults that President Javier Milei expressed on Saturday in São Paulo against his Brazilian counterpart, Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva, Diego Santilli urged the neighboring country "not to tear their garments." The Chief of Staff thus backed the arguments of the national leader, who pointed out that he had been the victim of attacks from that same sector when he was a presidential candidate.
"They came here to campaign, they said outrageous things about the President and were able to make whatever trips they wanted to make," he told LN+ in reference to the fact that, as Milei denounced, in 2023 advisors sent by Lula arrived in Argentina to campaign in favor of Sergio Massa.
Meanwhile, he downplayed the impact on the economic relationship and stressed that between both nations there is "a traditional relationship between companies that is maintained."
