The Dope (Department of Strategic Police Operations) of the São Paulo Civil Police launched a police operation targeting clandestine gambling establishments in the state capital.

Four establishments were shut down. According to police, they were located in upscale areas of the city, in the districts of Moema, in the southern zone, Pinheiros and Itaim Bibi, in the western zone, as well as Santa Cecília, in the city center.

The operation resulted in the seizure of slot machines, card machines and records related to the activity, among other items. The material was sent for forensic examination.

Employees and bettors were taken to local police stations, namely the 14th Police District (Pinheiros), 15th Police District (Itaim Bibi), 27th Police District (Campo Belo) and 77th Police District (Santa Cecília).

They were interviewed and required to sign a commitment to appear before the courts. They were subsequently released, also according to police.

The operation was carried out by Garra (Armed Group for the Repression of Robberies and Assaults) and GER (Special Reaction Group) in conjunction with the Department of Judicial Police of the Capital.
