This is what happened to Gemitaiz who last Sunday, during a performance at a festival in Francavilla al Mare, in the province of Chieti, directed unpleasant remarks at police officers. The Abruzzo daily Il Centro reports the story. "I usually warn you when there are dogs around," the rapper said from the stage. "Today I didn't know, I didn't see them, I'm sorry. I'm sorry that these pieces of s**t come here to bust the b***s of these kids. Remember that your life is much better." Words that first made the rounds on the web and then ended up on the tables of the town council of the coastal town. "With a municipal contribution of around 45,000 euros for the Shock Wave Festival, we are allowing those who are handsomely paid to perform on our territory to insult the law enforcement officers who are doing their job," wrote Forza Italia councillor Pier Paolo Paolini in a post. His fellow centre-right colleague Daniele D'Amario struck a similar tone, announcing that he would be tabling a formal question at the next town council meeting. Livio Sarchese, a Five Star Movement representative on the council, also shared the reflection made by Paolini. As did Mayor Luisa Russo, although she rejected the political controversy directed at her. "I distance myself from the statements made by the artist towards the law enforcement forces," she said. "These are words I do not share and which in no way represent the values of the municipal administration or those of our community."
